Humans are truly social animals and most of us have an inclination towards expressing our emotions, thoughts and ideas. 

Then languages came into place ranging from spoken, written to sign. We have come a long way since then. Long enough to be surrounded by machines or robots created by us which speak within themselves in assembly and other languages which most of us cannot even understand or comprehend. I am sure you get the irony of it.


Music/sound transcends any language. A piece of music or sound is more than enough to convey emotions, motives, thoughts and gestures. 

Sonance Intro

Sound on

Sonance is an exploration of communication through sounds. Allowing user-generated sounds through oscillations and generated nodes via mouse movements, multiple people can gather at one place and try and spark a conversation that is beyond human language in real-time.

 

This application was created as a part of the Shapes of Sound workshop conducted by Ananya Agrawal and Vineesh Amin during the 10 days of Normative Futures Open Elective module conducted at the National Institute of Design.

Making

There were multiple iterations in different mediums and a lot of workarounds before the final prototype was made.
